Body Scan - What needs work?
Monday Dec 30, 2019
Monday Dec 30, 2019
Listen in today for a quick body scan - looking for places that need attention. looking at how we feel physically, energetically and psychically.
Do a quick head to toe scan of your body. Look inside. Start at your head (scalp dry? Itchy? Headaches? Neck pain?) Upper back , shoulders – flexibility, pain from looking down at your iphone too much? (it’s a thing!) Wrists & fingers – arthritis, pain when cold?, nails healthy. Go back to your neck and scan down your spine, stop at your heart (get enough exercise? have love in your life?) and your lungs (get fresh air often? Practice breathing exercises? Have you fully grieved a loss?)
Say hello to your liver, its under the bottom of your ribs on the right side. It cleans your blood. Ask yourself if you have supported your liver with clean foods and water, taken supplements to encourage the liver, are you quick to anger? If so, check your liver.
Take it down to your reproductive organs and eliminators. Everything working at speed? Any emotions there that need resolving? Are you in a healthy sexual relationship? Do you digest your foods well? Are you pooping AT LEAST once a day?
See – all of these offer potential for simple changes and better choices.
Share this with a friend, get into your journal and write down what you find.

Last 3 detox supplements
Friday Dec 20, 2019
Friday Dec 20, 2019
So Sorry I missed yesterday but I awoke at 4 am in agony with what I think was food poisoning.
The first thing I did was take 2 capsules of activated charcoal. 90 minutes later when I threw up it was only water and black foam so I knew it had gotten into my system early enough to have an effect.
Activated charcoal has a massive surface area and is often used to help treat a drug overdose or a poisoning. When you take activated charcoal, drugs and toxins can bind to it. This helps rid the body of unwanted substances via your poop. I always travel with it and keep it front and center in my medicine cabinet.
I also love Premier Chem Detox by Premier Research Labs which contains modified citrus pectin or MCP (the white part of a citrus rind that is chemically altered). Once in circulation, MCP can bind to other substances, including heavy metals and a type of protein associated with atherosclerosis and cancer metastasis.
Lastly, Pure Body Clear from Energetix contains lots of liver cleansing herbs like milk thistle, artichoke leaf and barberry and also turmeric which works to reduce inflammation. Clearing the liver and supporting it though any detox is crucial.
I used charcoal immediately and will be using the other two products over the next 2-3 days while I recover.

Modified citrus pectin may cause gastrointestinal discomfort in patients allergic or sensitive to modified citrus pectin.

Detox Supplements: Vitamin D3 with K and Iodine
Wednesday Dec 18, 2019
Wednesday Dec 18, 2019
So important for us to keep our vitamin D3 levels up in the winter months.
Vitamin D3 is a fat soluble vitamin that helps your body absorb calcium. It's important to take vitamin K2 along with it because it tells the calcium to go to the bone, not the arteries.
Our bodies naturally make D3 when exposed to sunlight (20 minutes a day, exposed skin, sunscreen free is optimal) but in the winter that is impossible for many of us and so supplementation is necessary.
I'll be taking a D3/K2/Iodine supplement this January. Listen in for why the iodine is an important co-factor.
All the products I am mentioning are on the Amazon Idea list here: http://bit.ly/GuudDetox

My Detox Supplements: Minerals 2 ways
Tuesday Dec 17, 2019
Tuesday Dec 17, 2019
Minerals are almost more important to supplement than vitamins. Our soils are so depleted that are getting inadequate levels of minerals in our daily diet.
https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/soil-depletion-aND-NUTRITION-LOSS/
I have a few forms of minerals I take.
First, is a liquid multi mineral that I put into my water bottle on a daily basis. Especially important if you filter your water which can also remove the good minerals. 1-2 teaspoons a day will do it.
When I travel and can’t take a liquid supplement with me I like Vital Nutrients Multi-Minerals. This doesn’t have copper or iron so it is safe for men and women. I like that it is a capsule and not a hard pill. It’s more complete than the liquid and if I am not taking too many supplements I add this in for good measure.
Magnesium is a mineral that can be absorbed through the skin and I love an Epsom salt bath on days when I feel wired or sore from a work out. So that’s another easy way to get some more minerals into your system.

My Detox Supplements: The MultiVitamin
Monday Dec 16, 2019
Monday Dec 16, 2019
I like the safety of a multivitamin. It is the work horse of supplements covering many of your bases.
Listen in for why i love www.23andme.com and learned why I need my B vitamins to be methylated.
Remember all the detox products I use are linked in my Amazon list (i don't rep these brands and am not paid a penny for any of this) http://bit.ly/GuudDetox

The Herx Reaction: Detox and Die off
Friday Dec 13, 2019
Friday Dec 13, 2019
When we detox or kill bacteria we often experience a reaction known as a Herx. This is why you can't rush any type of detox. It might be joint pain or headaches or flu like symptoms. If we take it slow enough, are pooping daily and supplementing then we should do just fine but it's important to know that these healing reactions can occur and you need to proceed slowly though a Herx.
Think of other forms of detox: lots of lemon water, sweating via a workout/sauna/epsom bath, activated charcoal, citrus pectin.
You'll need a journal to write down your thoughts and intentions.
I have started an amazon list which is here: http://a.co/7FcWLg3 to keep track of the products I'll be using for January. Feel free to check it out.

Considering Detox: Books and Podcasts
Thursday Dec 12, 2019
Thursday Dec 12, 2019
This week we are talking about a January reset, a detox if that’s what you’ll call it. You are going to need to do some thinking over the next two weeks…what isn’t working for you and what could use some change? It might be one thing or 3 or a whole lifestyle reboot. The goal for January is to recognize what is not working, learn some new tools and strategies and make some better choices and simple lifestyle changes going forward.
I am an avid reader and love to get into a book to learn more. A few that I recommend
Sinclair http://bit.ly/SinclairGuud
Asprey http://bit.ly/AspreyGuud
Mich P http://bit.ly/MichPGuud
I also love podcasts and you can use the search feature in your podcast app to look for relevant recordings on the topic of your choice. Some top names in biohacking and wellness are Dave Asprey, Ben Greenfield, Chris Kresser, and Mark Hyman

Detox - the truth and a snippet on poop
Wednesday Dec 11, 2019
Wednesday Dec 11, 2019
I'm getting excited to share my detox journey for the month of January.
Listen in today for:
Why detox is retox if you aren't properly prepared.
Why pooping everyday is necessary and which form of Magnesium can help you. (hint: it's magnesium citrate).
Why long and slow is the way to go. 7 or 3 day fasts might do more damage than good.
Why what works for me might not work for you. I am simply sharing with you what I am doing based on research, bloodwork and anecdotal evidence.
REMEMBER: I am not a medical doctor and this is not medical advice. I ask all of you to talk to your doctor before taking on any sort of detox program.

My going out routine
Friday Dec 06, 2019
Friday Dec 06, 2019
Today I share my tricks for going out at night.
In a nutshell - First, if I am going out to dinner I will look at the menu earlier in the day and decide what I will be ordering. That way, when I get to the restaurant, I can spend my time engaged with friends and not with the menu. Also, I will make a healthier choice when I am not starving and when I am sober.
Next, If I am going to more of a party than a dinner I will eat before I go out. Otherwise I will not hold my liquor well and probably eat when I get home too late at night. I'll choose something healthy but also filling like chicken and vegetables or perhaps a salad in the summer.
Also I'll make sure to drink water from the moment I leave the party (I always have a full water bottle in the waiting) and even go to sleep with a large glass of water on my night stand. Occasionally I will take some B vitamins before digging into my bedtime routine which I do every night without fail.
What's your going out routine? Talk with friends, maybe they will have other ideas to share that will resonate with you. And don't forget to tell them you heard it from The Guud Company.

Your daily self care routine
Thursday Dec 05, 2019
Thursday Dec 05, 2019
Did you know that women use on average 168 chemicals every day on their bodies every day? Ewwww. Men about half that. There are so many products labeled "natural" that are chock full of chemicals?
One you can trust that I love is Beauty Counter www.beautycounter.com and they have products for men and babies too. You can get the EWG app on your phone to scan product barcodes to learn about what is safe and what needs to go.
TIP: Scan the products you already own and make a list of what needs to go, then take that list to Whole Foods or look at Beauty Counter.
My daily beauty routine is pretty minimal. I wash my face with an enzyme cleanser, use a C serum and then a sunscreen or tinted moisturizer with SPF. Nighttime is a cleanse, some other sort of serum and a thicker night cream and a little eye cream and then a good teeth brushing.
Simple. Clean. Safe.

How about that exercise routine?
Wednesday Dec 04, 2019
Wednesday Dec 04, 2019
This week we are considering our daily routines...today I contemplate the idea of an exercise routine.
It needs to be changed up regularly. What worked once might not anymore.
I love a mix of cardio, weight lifting, yoga or stretching, high intensity interval training and just plain walking.
Depends on your goals, right? And mixing it up feels so right sometimes.
And don't forget how important recovery is...foam rolling, a percussion gun, my far infrared sauna, massage.
Is it working for you...if it isn't remember our mantra: SIMPLE CHANGES, BETTER CHOICES.
You got this!

What's your evening routine?
Tuesday Dec 03, 2019
Tuesday Dec 03, 2019
This week has me thinking about routines and rituals and both what mine are and if they are serving me.
My evening routine isn't so much a routine but a slide into bed. I wake up at 6:23 every morning and I'm busy from the moment I open my eyes thus by evening I am pooped.
In reality my current situation is home work with boys after driving to and from after school activities and while making dinner. Then it's eating and cleaning up, checking email one last time. After I tuck the kids in, I do my nightly beauty stuff, set my alarm, make sure I have a big glass of water on the nightstand and climb into bed. Sometimes with my phone or a book. It's my reality being a wife and mom of 2 teenage boys.
Does it serve me? Not particularly but in a few short years the boys will be gone and evenings will look much different. I'd love to have a regular evening movement practice perhaps with some mindfulness mixed in. It's good to have a plan right?
What does your evening wind-down look like?

Holiday Gifts - A Hydroflask
Thursday Nov 28, 2019
Thursday Nov 28, 2019
First off, Happy Thanksgiving all. So grateful to be healthy and sharing my wellness knowledge with you all. Thanks for being here.
I know I say it all the time but we need to do a better job at hydrating ourselves.
I love my hydroflask, it keeps my cold water cold for at least half a day and same with hot drinks. It has a wide mouth that makes filling easy and a low profile screw cap that stays tight so no leaks.
A great gift for just about anyone who likes or needs to stay hydrated.
