Down with a head cold.
Friday Oct 04, 2019
Friday Oct 04, 2019
I've been smacked with a head cold. I've taken all my own guud advice: lots of rest, hydration, vitamin D3 and C, elderberry, herbs including echinacea, hot baths, a sweaty workout...and I'm still sick.
Sometimes you simply need to wait and let it play out. Lots of products on my page here: www.theguudcompany.com/shop

Halotherapy
Wednesday Oct 02, 2019
Wednesday Oct 02, 2019
Feeling ill with a cold or cough and looking for a natural way to speed healing?
Try Halotherapy also known as a Himalayan Salt Room.
You'll most likely change from your street clothes into a robe and barefoot you'll enter a salt room for 40-60 minutes. You can lay on the ground on a bed of salt or sit in a chair with your feet in the coarse salt while inhaling micro-particles of salt. Those micro-particles will enter your body and cleanse the upper respiratory tract. You might notice you cough a little more after your session but that is your body cleaning out your mucus or infection.
Obviously if you are very ill or with a fever you'll need to wait so you don't infect others and you'll want to see your doctor to make sure it is not something more serious.

Do you forget to take your supplements?
Monday Sep 30, 2019
Monday Sep 30, 2019
If you forget to take your supplements you might want to switch up your routine.
Putting your vitamins, minerals or herbs by your toothbrush will make it more likely for you to take them as you will see them twice a day when you brush. If you like to take your supplements in the evening, leaving them on your nightstand may be the answer for you.
If neither of those work for you then you might consider taking them with you. Can can either use a daily pill sorter or stick the whole bottle in your bag. Perhaps set a daily alarm on your phone to remind you to take them.
Many of the supplements that I take can be found here: www.theguudcompany.com/shop

Switching up your probiotics
Sunday Sep 29, 2019
Sunday Sep 29, 2019
Are you taking probiotics? If so, it's a good idea to change them up. Your microbiome contains billions of probiotics of various strains and it's important to not only feed the ones you have but to replace them on a regular basis.
I like Florastor from time to time https://florastor.com/ as well as Natures's Way Fortify https://www.naturesway.com/Product-Catalog/Fortify-Optima-Women-90-Billion-Probiotic which says it's "made for women" but is great for every body.

Activated Charcoal
Saturday Sep 28, 2019
Saturday Sep 28, 2019
Activated Charcoal is something I keep on hand always. It's in my purse, my travel bag and my medicine cabinet.
If I eat something iffy (hello sushi) I will take 2 capsules. If I am bloated in the morning or after a meal, I take 2 capsules. A night of drinking means 2 capsules before bed.
Activated charcoal is a form of carbon processed to have small, low-volume pores that increase the surface area. It has the ability to attract and bind to toxins and the body will flush these out of the body with a bowel movement.
Be sure to take this AWAY from any medications you are taking or any supplements you are taking.
You can also use activated charcoal to whiten teeth. Open a capsule and mix with some toothpaste and brush normally. Just know it can be messy...but its really effective.

Essential Oils
Friday Sep 27, 2019
Friday Sep 27, 2019
I love using essential oils and have regularly used DoTerra essential oils for the last few years.
Here a re a few of my favorites:
For stomach upset I like both Peppermint and DigestZen. I will use a drop under my tongue as well as applied directly to my stomach area.
Lavender is great for relaxation in either a bath or on wrists or feet.
OnGuard, a special blend from DoTerra is great for preventing colds. I rub a few drops in my hands and inhale deeply.
I like this brand because I trust it, especially if I am ingesting them.

Cryotherapy
Thursday Sep 26, 2019
Thursday Sep 26, 2019
Listen in today for why cryotherapy makes me feel like a super hero.
I use it for recovery after hard workouts. It's unbelievably cold but it truly helps to lower inflammation. Also, it burns over 500 calories because your body has to work so hard to warm back up!
Have you tried it?

The Infrared Sauna
Wednesday Sep 25, 2019
Wednesday Sep 25, 2019
I love my Sunlighten Sauna. I use it mainly for detox. a 40 minute session has me really sweating but it's not like a traditional Finnish sauna where the air gets so hot it burns the inside of your nose when you breathe. This sauna uses near, mid, and far infrared rays to heat your body not the air. It has settings that offer different benefits from pain relief to weight loss, detoxification to lowering blood pressure and offering relaxation.
The brand that I trust is Sunlighten: https://www.sunlighten.com/infrared-sauna-health-benefits/
Listen in today for reasons why the infrared sauna is best in class and how to find one near you to use.

Less sunlight means Vitamin D levels plummet
Tuesday Sep 24, 2019
Tuesday Sep 24, 2019
As we enter Fall and the days get shorter our body's ability to make Vitamin D wanes. It's time to supplement.
Vitamin D3 with K2 to the rescue. The K2 keeps your arteries healthy and tells your body what to do with calcium (it needs to go to your bones and not your arteries!)
Vitamin D3 and K2 deficiencies will impact the development and stability of the immune system, the skeletal muscle system, the nervous system and the endocrine system.
If you are new to supplements its a great idea to talk to your doctor and also ask for a Vitamin D blood test so you'll know what your baseline is.
This is a good one available on Amazon http://bit.ly/GUUDvitaminD

Foodie Friday - Remember Diets Don't Work
Friday Sep 20, 2019
Friday Sep 20, 2019
Just a reminder that the best way to look and feel your best is to make simple changes and better choices very single day.
Just because a diet worked for someone else doesn't mean it will work for you - especially long term.
You know what you need to do in terms of diet to feel your very best....so just do that, as often as possible.

Wellness Challenge - Safer Cleaning Products
Wednesday Sep 18, 2019
Wednesday Sep 18, 2019
I recently was turned on to The Grove Collaborative (www.grove.co) where all the products the carry are SAFE for you, your home and the environment.
You can select products to be delivered monthly, or change your order, or skip an order. It makes it super easy to ensure you have quality products that work and are safe.
WHat products are you using that are toxic? Check out my favorite Environmental Working Group website or app and see how toxic the products you currently use are...then make the switch.
I am not sponsored by The Grove and I buy all my own products. I'm just a happy customer.

Quick Tip Tusday - That ONE thing
Tuesday Sep 17, 2019
Tuesday Sep 17, 2019
What's the one thing that has been on your TO-DO list for ages?
The one thing that never makes it off the list?
Is it scheduling a colonoscopy, is it cleaning out your closet, is it cleaning off your desk, is it calling your mother-in-law?
We all have that one thing that we need to get done that we procrastinate on. It hangs over our heads and looms large.
Well, today is the day to get it done and wipe it off your list.
If not today, then definitely this week folks. No more looming, no more waiting. GET IT DONE! It will feel like a major victory.

Mindful Monday - Set your intention for the week
Monday Sep 16, 2019
Monday Sep 16, 2019
It's Monday and time for a dose of mindfulness!
This week, let's set an intention. For me it is to squeeze every last drop of summer from this week. I want to take a walk and a hike and a swim. One last bask in the sun. Some grounding work.
Your intentions for the week might be around family or work or school or eating or fitness....whatever it is WRITE IT DOWN. Look at it often. Make it happen.
Set your direction and head that way. It's a powerful act to set an intention. You are telling yourself what is important and where to focus! Give it a try.

Self Care Sunday - Detoxing Glyphosate
Sunday Sep 15, 2019
Sunday Sep 15, 2019
GLYPHOSATE. Stephanie Seneff. Monsanto Round Up.
If you don't know what any of those things are please start googling.
Glyphosate is the super toxic chemical in Monsanto's product called Round Up. It's sold as a weed killer and used to spray genetically modified crops to kill all the weeds but not the plants.
Let's be clear...it is toxic to humans. It erodes the lining of the gut creating a leaky gut scenario which leads to all sorts of problems down the line.
It isn't toxic all at once but over time exposure to this chemical is surely not good for us.
Stephanie Seneff is leading the way in research at MIT. Her findings are remarkable though many people haven't heard of her or her findings.
For the sake of your health and the health of those you love...please do your own research.
Then take a nice hot epsom salt bath you help your body release and detox this harmful burden! Happy Sunday.

Soulful Saturday - Generosity
Saturday Sep 14, 2019
Saturday Sep 14, 2019
How can we be more generous of ourselves when we really don't feel like it.
Look for opportunities to be generous. It opens us up - opens our hearts and while it is doing good for others it magically does good things for us.
So it's that simple....look for opportunities today to be generous. Notice when you feel yourself turned off, turning away or tuning out and get in there. Open, be soft, be kind.
It feels so damn good.
