In this episode we rehash all the great information we gave you on functional foods which are defined by the Mayo Clinic as “foods that have a potential positive effect on health beyond basic nutrition.“
We discussed turmeric and it’s benefits for arthritis and joint pain. Matcha, a bright green tea powder that it has 137 times more antioxidants than regular green tea. Açai berry which is the delicious purple tropical super fruit from Brazil that is both immune-stimulating and energy-boosting. It is very high in antioxidants and even has anti-aging affects.
Reishi mushrooms have been rated the top medicinal herb in Traditional Chinese Medicine for over 2000 years and are antiviral, anti-inflammatory, anti-parasitic, and anti-tumor. These mushrooms contain over 200 active ingredients.
The coffee fruit is a true super-food packed with antioxidants and contains a critical protein called BDNF for healthy brain functioning. Chia seeds are packed with omega-3 fatty acids and great for keeping you hydrated. Kombucha is a beverage the ancient Chinese have called the "immortal health elixir" and is excellent for your health and for detoxing the body.
